- Dr. Lucianne Walkowicz is an astronomer, movement artist, and educator based in Chicago. Walkowicz studies how outer space serves as the site where humanity crafts its futures, and works to make those futures more just (both in space, and on Earth). They are also a transdisciplinary artist, whose work explores connections between the body and the universe.
Walkowicz holds a B.S. in Physics from Johns Hopkins University, and a M.S. and Ph. D. from University of Washington. They were the Kepler Fellow at UC Berkeley, and the Henry Norris Russell Fellow at Princeton University, before joining the Astronomy Department at Adler Planetarium in 2014. Walkowicz is a 2012 TED Senior Fellow, a 2011 National Academy of Sciences Kavli Fellow, and has been internationally recognized for their advocacy for conservation of dark night skies. - Animation Department
